The strong decays of the π quark-antiquark states are investigated in the framework of the 3 P 0 meson decay model. It is found that the π(2070), η(2100), and η(2225) appear to be the convincing 4 1 S 0 q ¯ q states while the assignment of the η(2010) and η(2190) as the 4 1 S 0 isoscalar states is not favored by their widths. In the presence of the π(2070), η(2100), and η(2225) being the members of the 4 1 S 0 meson nonet, the 4 1 S 0 kaon is phenomenologically determined to has a mass of about 2153 MeV. The width of this unobserved kaon is expected to be about 197 MeV in the 3 P 0 decay model.

We analyze the meson spectrum in SU(N c) lattice gauge theory. We use Wilson quarks to measure the pseudoscalar and vector masses in SU(2), SU(3), SU(4) and SU(6), and extrapolate to the large–N c limit. We find that finite–N c corrections are small at all values of the quark mass.
